February 22nd, 2017 I was in Two Hills Alberta Canada attending the funeral of a long time friend Ray Dehid. Ray was from a Dodge Dealer family as I was and we were for years competitors and then as life grew on good friends. It was bitterly cold that day around minus 35 degrees...and after the funeral as I sat in my car warming up to my left I saw a ranch lady in her 70s attempting to get into a new RAM 3500 CREW CAB 4x4...she was around 5 ft tall...left arm stretched out as far as it could to grab the grab handle nearly 6 ft in the air, her right foot on the running boards and she took 8 tries bobbing up and down until finally she had the strength to get into the truck. I THOUGHT THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY.

You see MOST TRUCKS TODAY ARE TALL...for getting into places and clearances and frankly JUST BECAUSE...but a lot of ranchers and farmers use 1 ton trucks as write off for taxes and if you're shorter or older getting in and out CAN BE A CHORE...little did I know this even would form part of my future...as...

I was a horseman working on a Hollywood TV series...a new horse was brought onto the sest and I was assured he as MOVIE READY...well he worked 4 hours well then decided he no longer wished to be in show business and BROKE MY BODY IN HALF AT THE WAIST...I woke up screaming...no tears just screaming...I didn't know pain that bad even existed...NOW I DO...and the effects of that 5 seconds will be with me forever...one year in bed and wheelchair and cane...I retaught myself to walk, though found I COULDN'T GET INTO A TRUCK FROM A WHEELCHAIR...THE GRAB HANDLES WERE TOO HIGH and like that ranch lady from months before I was in a pickle...and it got me thinking...hmmmm??

And about the name, frankly it just popped into my head one day out of the blue (thank you GOD)...and it stuck and made sense...GIDDYUPZ-get going...no matter who you are or what you're doing...GO FORWARD, GO AHEAD...GET GOING....STRIVE...you know words are a funny thing...a word like NO tends to STOP EVERYTHING IN ITS TRACKS...IT STOPS INNOVATION IT STOPS MOVEMENT AND CERTAINLY IT STOPS PEOPLE FROM PROGRESSING...NO NO NO.

Whereas the word YES opens doors, inflates egos, gets groups following a common goal. I like the word YES a lot better than NO. Though inventing a product you will most likely hear the word no 1000 times more than yes WHICH MAKES YES SO SPECIAL...and I listened to an old TONY ROBBINS tape I found at a dollar store, must have listened to it in my 30 year old Chrysler Fifth Avenue at least a thousand times...he kept saying IF IT DOESN'T WORK, TRY AGAIN...IF THAT'S BLOCKED, TRY AGAIN...TRY AGAIN...TRY AGAIN...and it did take 3 1/2 years though I must admit giving up would have been easier...but why give up - YOU'RE GIVEN 1 LIFE...MIGHT AS WELL GO DOWN FIGHTING!
So from making them by hand on top of my chest in a bed because I couldn't walk to a table in my room.

Through all of this was March 7 2020 at 10AM Jay Leno from Hollywood actually called me in person and told me how much he loved his GiDDYUPZ and gave me tips about marketing and SEMA Las Vegas and he was funny...a VERY GREAT MAN...HE DIDN'T HAVE TO CALL ME BUT HE DID AND I'LL NEVER FORGET IT...THANK YOU JAY.

Over 200 prototypes later, well over 26,000 hours in development time (I know unbelievable but true - either I am a genius or an idiot, the jury is still out) and literally tens of thousands of dollars later...PERFECTION...the perfect grab handle extender. And now I even invented applications for the exact same product to be used for AGE IN HOME USE...like getting out of the tub without falling, going up and down staircases, getting off a bed after surgery and even if you fall a new way to safely get yourself up again...AND I OWE IT ALL TO GOD FOR ALLOWING ME TO LIVE AFTER THE ACCIDENT....IT WAS REAL BAD...I'm being held together at the waist by eight 6 inch bolts and a metal plate...but thankfully I lived.

One last thing...BE CERTAIN ALL OF THE METAL HARDWARE IS ALWAYS TIGHT BEFORE USE. Please check the tightness of all bolts and screws and nuts periodically and ALWAYS AND ONLY INSTALL ALL GIDDYUPZ products with LOCTITE on all bolt threads to secure the safety of us of GiDDYUPZ always...thank you.
